How can the classroom change to incorporate new technologies to enhance student learning? Recent years have seen an explosion in freely-available online tools and services that can be used in teaching. By bringing student work into the open using these digital pedagogies, instructors encourage connections between students and the world beyond the walls of the classroom and college. Many faculty, however, are new to teaching and learning in an open online environment. In this workshop we’ll share compelling examples of digital pedagogy from several disciplines, and engage participants through a game-based activity. This card game motivates instructors to change: communicating best practices for open digital pedagogy while demonstrating how an open digital platform can be used to enhance the classroom. Developed to address the challenges of introducing faculty to new technologies, this activity will equip attendees with tools for implementing open digital pedagogies in their own practices.
