Beyond Games and Learning: Innovating Knowledge Production Through Games
Karen Schrier is an Assistant Professor of Media Arts at Marist College and Director of the Play Innovation Lab. While earning her doctorate at Columbia University, she worked at ESI Design, Scholastic, and Nickelodeon, and has also previously worked at BrainPOP and Barnes & Noble, Inc. Karen is the editor of an upcoming book published by ETC Press on games and learning, and she co-edited a recently published series of books on ethics and games called “Ethics and Game Design.” She is a member of the steering committee of the IGDA Learning and Education Games (LEG) SIG and has helped design and research over a hundred games and educational experiences. Karen holds an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and Media from Columbia University, a master’s degree from MIT, and a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College.
