Instructors and students participating in Asynchronous Learning Networks (ALN) are frequently dissatisfied with the frequency and quality of instructor-student interaction in distance education. Literature on how to add and enhance real interactions between instructors and students is abundant but there is a scarcity of attention devoted to virtual forms of instructor-student interaction in the delivery of course content. In this workshop, participants will be trained to engage in Virtual Instructor-Student Interaction (VISI) using Qualtrics, an online survey writing program, which enables them to interact with students during the actual time in which they are receiving course content.
